Do you know how annoying it is to drive in 3rd on the freeway? ... well... the fresh rebuild lasted about 1 month/ and a half... only about 10 passes down the strip too!:{ . . the transmission shop said something "broke" in the overdrive unit, whatever that means... has anyone broken planetary gears or clutches in theirs before?? what else could this be. . any feedback would be great, Thanks. ---Greg:)

I had the same transmission rebuilt 6 times in a week. Everytime they would test drive the truck, it would loose all the forward gears. Turns out the transmission fluid cooler under the exhaust manifold was completely plugged. transmission fluid wasn't getting back to the transmission. It's amazing how long a transmission won't last without fluid. Go figure.

I saw the planetary gear and and gears were shaved smooth. Not pretty. Good thing it was under warranty from the 1st rebuild.

Anyways, you might have them check it to make sure that it's flowing through there properly

My stock transmission lasted only 2 weeks after my first BOMB. The OD went bad. Worked fine in 1-3, but in OD i could only apply tiny amounts of power otherwise it would just slip.

Now I am not a transmission expert, so forgive me if I get this wrong. But is seems like the OD clutches are help in place on one end by a snap ring of some kind. Kinda looks like the silencer ring only about twice the size. When I got it to DTT and it was disassembled it turned out that this snap ring as I call it, was broke in half. So when power was applied in OD the clutch pack would just float around in there and slip all over the place. -- My interpretation of the problem.
