Locking lug nuts, no key

after 14 years... . a hole in one's heart that doesn't seem like it will ever go away... . she was fine today and I took her to school with me - when I got home she wasn't her self and wouldn't get out of the car I helped her down and carried her to the house - I knew that it was her time - and a few minutes later she died in our arms... ... one doesn't know how many tears there can be - I know if you haven't ever been close to a pet - it's hard to understand - but they get into your heart so big... ... . and change your life..... no finer friend or companion than Abby - RIP - 19 June 2006 - I hope to see you again -

Abby at the top of our steps where she always waited if you were cominf up.

I'm sorry for your loss. There seems to be quite a few threads lately remembering lost canine friends, mine included. They're all up in doggy heaven playing together. :{

Thanks guys......

Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts... . it's time like this when I'd be on the net that Abby would always be at my side... ... . pretty lonely tonight. And my wife who loved Abby as much or more ( if possible) than me - is really reserved and very strong - broke down today several times. Abby always sat on teh couch and put her head on her lap... ... those memories will last a lifetime... . now we just have to console our other lab Sophie because she really misses Abby... ... and she knew that something had happened. Within a short time we'll have another puppy - but in no way will she ever replace Abby... ..... I hope she will be half as good a dog... . if so we'll be very blessed.

I must tell you that while I was holding Abby in her final moments - I was so teary eyed that I called out to God. . "Please Lord if it's Abby's time - please take her now..... and in that moment he did!" NO exaggerated story... . simple fact. She died where she was loved and belonged - at home.

I thank God that I didn't have to take her to the Vet for that last visit..... something I have had to do before.....

It's been two long years since I/we lost our Black Lab, I stilll look for her and miss her.

Truely a guys best friend.

im very sorry about your loss. i recently lost a pup and i know how hard this can be. there is no way to describe the feeling. you and your family are in my prayers.

Sad day at the Hammersley's residence for sure. Sorry for your loss. Sherman is only 3 1/2 & I hope he makes 14. Thats how long our black lab graced us with her presence, & I'm much more attached to this chocolate lab. Glad you have another lab to help fill the void.

Thanks folks for all the

very kind words..... it means a lot. Amazing how these furry critters can get deep into your heart..... everytime this happens the grief comes over you like an ocean wave..... and being the sentimental type I see her everyplace she use to be and I expect to see her coming around the corner - but knowing those days are gone... I don't tear up at lots of things - but this one really hit me hard. It's not that we knew it wasn't going to happen - just that you want it to be ..... tomorrow... not now! The Baton has been passed and our young dog Sophie (7) is now the "Old Dog"... ... I hope she's half as good a trainer to our new dog as Abby was to her - but I have faith - because Sophie had The Best Teacher there could ever be - her name was Abby.

Thanks a million folks... ...

Labs are Special!!

Sorry to hear of your families beloved member. We have a chocolate lab female named SAMMIE. She is 9yrs old. They are one of the easiest dogs to train. Sam loves to go out when the mail lady drives up to our box. She goes out, meets her and takes the mail and brings it into the house. Of course... She gets a buscuit. She goes out in the AM and gets the paper also... for a buscuit. She comes out when we have gone to the grocery store and will carry in a box of crackers or anything she can carry... . for a buscuit! They are VERY special dogs... . sorry for your loss.
