Ok, I'm new to diesel engines and new to TDR. Was highly recommended. I have had 2001 2500 4x4 for 3 months. Just finished 2200 mile trip. Halfway thru noticed loss in power, max boost 10-12 lbs, before got 30-40 lbs. Turbo temp is running alittle higher than before. Mileage decreased from 18-20 mph to 13-14 mph. Now I smell some exhaust in engine compartment. Also am now blowing out black exhaust from tail pipe when turbo kicks in. I replaced fuel filter and made no difference. I have a K & N air filter and I serviced it before starting trip. I checked connections, bolts, hoses etc on turbo and didn't find anything obvious. I also notice change in turbo sound. Sounds like exhaust leak right side of engine when boost goes over 6-8 lbs. Can anyone offer any suggestions where to start?? Thanks

you might update your signature with your truck's specifics. I think guages would be a big help.

You'll need to determine if you have an exhaust leak, and the boost level (MAP).

good luck

update your sig with what you have... . a few things to check like you said is always good boots and bolts intake manifold check your air path. . going in if there is a leak... if you smell exhaust in the cab that really may not mean much my truck stinks no matter what... . air filteriting for the cab sucks for our trucks. . check codes do a search for the key cycle to get codes. check map and air intake temp sensors. . clean if needed. . do you notice your oil smells like diesel. do you live in a are that has recently gotten cold due to winter. . let us know I'm sure we can help. .

You have a leak in the rubber hose that connects to the intercooler. There is a switch on the AC line that rubs through and causes the leak.

It is located under the oilfilter area. Just follow the hard pipe from the turbo and feel between the boot and engine area.
