hello guys, ihave just a little problem, every time i tur my truck there is a loud noise coming from the front of my truck. It is a 98 with 70,000 miles. Even when the truck is sitting still and i move the steering wheel from side t side it still makes a weird noise. Any one no what could be causing this? Thaks,

Balljoints, steering box, tie rod ends, trackbar and pitman arm are all suspects. Get on the ground and have someone turn the wheel until you find the source.

Check your power steering fluid level. My Brothers HO was doing the same and the pump was low. If it is low, hunt down where it might be leaking. Chris

TURN NOISE

ALSO CHECK THE STEERING SHAFT BETWEEN BOX AND FIRE WALL. MAKE SURE STEERING BOX BOLTS ARE TIGHT. YOU'VE SEEN THE REST. TBOB

I've been getting a low pitch whine for the past couple of days. It seems to be related to the steering as it quiets down a few minutes after I start the truck, but picks back up when I turn. The noise also changes in conjunction with the RPMs. My truck is a stock '02 with 6800 miles. It's been really cold and we've received quite the snow fall for the past week.

Bignick33, does this sound like what you are hearing?

I get pump cavitation from the pwr steering pump after driving winding mountain roads for a bit. IT is the combo of braking and steering that gets the fluid hot. I checked my fluid and it was a tad low on level ground but I am sure on the mountain roads I was driving on it was sucking air now and again.

R,

Andy
