I was hoping someone could help. On exceleration there is a squeal, the harder the exceleration the louder the squeal. I don't believe it is boost or turbo because it is not preasure specific. I can push the engine hard and it will squeal, I back down but still excelerating and the squeal stops but the boost continues to climb. I am at a loss.

Thanks,

Ramsey

Mine developed a squeal the other day under boost conditions kinda like the sound those "jumping jack" fireworks make. Turns out I forgot to tighten a manifold bolt that also holds the return fuel line from the injectors when I was changing injectors last week. Tightened up the bolt and noise went away. By the way, is that an o-ring or a gasket under the manifold plate?

I believe that is a gasket under the manifold plate. But i don't think my problem is boost related. thanks for the help.

first easy check is to check turbo for play. then if that is ok then load the truck up on the converter in drive. make sure you don't go over 15psi you can break shafts or hubs in the trans.

is the noise still there.

if yes then get a friend over to do the same thing while you listen under the hood. check all of the boost side hoses.

if no it could be some thing in the drive train.

here is a little hint what was one of the last mods that you did to your truck before the noise started. i would start there.

I guess you think I have a auto :) , but i have a manual. as far as boost goes I can reach higher boost with no squeal. It seems that if I do hard excelerations it squeals, the harder the exceleration the louder the squeal.

Thanks,

Ramsey

A boost leak may not be your issue at all, just figured I would share this.

When my squeal started last Monday night, I slapped together a device to pressurize the system to find my leak. Took a piece of 4" exhaust pipe about 4" long, welded a plate on one end and drilled a hole for a tire valve stem. Hooked it up to my turbo and pressurized (after regulating it down to 20psi). Of course there was some leakage past valves, but it held enough pressure for me to find the leak.
