After installing a Bullydog Torque Dog (3 position - Stock, 45 hp, 65 hp) I have noticed that at a certain RPM, usually right before it shifts into 3rd, the engine's diesel knock gets louder. I can also be cruising at a steady speed and maybe let off the throttle a little, and it does it then too. The knock I am referring to is the "loudness" in the second gen. engine. It even gets louder at this certain RPM. If the Bullydog is turned down to a lower setting, it doesn't do it as bad, or hardly at all. Is this normal or common? From what I understand, this box on 65 hp is similar to an EZ. I would have preferred an EZ, but this BD Torque Dog was payment to me for a $300. 00 debt. I figured I couldn't go wrong since it was new in the box and costs $695. 00. It works pretty good although I have had to send it back for warranty work and they replaced it with a new one.
A second issue take place when I let off the throttle. As I let off, the engine sort of fluctuates RPM as the truck is slowing down. Once it gets to idle, it is smooths out. It started doing this before the Torque Dog was installed. Could something be out of adjustment? I now have 260,000 miles on this truck. I have never had a valve cover off. Thanks in advance for your replies.
