Is there any way possible to have the turbo sound like the Ford 6. 0? I know it kills me to say that but I can't get enough of the turbo sound from a straight piped 6. 0l. Twins perhaps? Thanks

I heard that one of the air filter mods require a hole in the firewall as part of making it work and this makes for your listening pleasure.

You can't be serious. Are you??

Just installed the aFe maga cannon II on a 05 Dodge 600. It is a simple bolt in, no cutting of the firewall. Took out the silencer ring on the face of the turbo also. It SCREAMS!!!!!!!!!!! The owner made me put the ring back in because it was two loud for him. There is nothing to be ashamed of when you hear a piped ford They do sound cool. Just that the Dodge is much cooler.

Take the silencer ring out of the intake side of the turbo. Also take the baffles out of the plastic tube between the two elbows on the intake pipe.

Done that... Still looking for more turbine

The only way you will ever get your truck to sound like a 6. 0 liter is to buy one as they have a variable geometry turbo set up. I think the 6. 0's sound the best when the are first started up, kinda like a jet engine coming up to speed.

I'll stick with DC. Is there a possibility of having a variable geometry turbo made for the Cummins? What are the advantages of having those kinds of turbo's? Disadvantages?

i believe the Aruora 5000 is VGT and banks is coming out with one also. i'm no expert but it can spool up like a small turbo then change the vanes or gates, or whatever it has and then act like a big turbo. the only disadvantage i see is more moving parts. i would like to see a VGT like on the big cummins where the impeller wheel slides in and out. no extra moving parts.

You could go out to an Air Force base, take a sound clip from a C5A Galaxy on take off then play it through your speakers. That should shake your 6. 0 friends up. :--)

If you are going to do that, then get a clip of an F16 with a P&W F100 or a GE F-110. Better yet, Get a F-15 with two of those Bad Boys... Moose00.

is this the silencer ring everyone is talking about? i hope so cuz i took it out this morning.

I dunno, I still think those 4 major huge fans in the C5 are more "whistle loud" than the smaller planes. The little jets make a nice rumble in the afterburner though.

Even the A-10 Warthog has a nice turbo sound with its fan jet engines.

With all the work to get more sound out of the turbo, how come someone hasn't come up with an insert for that? We have fellas taking the silencer ring out and we have the TAG so why not a TSE? "Turbo Sound Enhancer"

Could be a money maker with:

  • TSE Mild
  • TSE Twin
  • TSE Jet

With the AFE filter and torque tube, my turbo sings pretty good. Enough to make the Harley guys look back when I am coming up on them. From outside of the truck, if you hit WOT and let the boost build it's like a dog whistle. The HTBG is not as high pitched as the stock turbo, but a bit louder.

SR-71 Oo. that is one awesome aircraft.

Seriously though I personally like the quiet 3rd gens and am worried when its time to upgrade the turbo, I will have a noisy daily driver. I had been looking at twins but now may hold out to see what the Aurora MST is like.

I heard you could adjust it for boost at idle, that should take care of any lag.
