Anybody else noticed Loves has changed the labeling on their diesel pumps? It's been B5 at most of them in my area for awhile which I'm not happy about, I try to avoid it most of the time and use Flying J which so far hasn't switched around here.

I was on a trip to Alabama today and stopped at the Loves in Faulkville Alabama and topped up. Then I noticed the new label which now doesn't say B5, has it listed as a biodiesel "blend of between 5 and 20 percent". That makes me very nervous since I know Dodge states in the owners manual up to a maximum of 5 percent is allowed. I know there is an option for fleet vehicles to equip for 20 percent but I'm sure that's a very low percentage and not applicable to most of us.

I did express my concerns to their fuel desk and told them that as far as I was aware none of the major manufacturers would warrant anything above B5 since the filtration system, etc wasn't setup to handle B20.

What's everyone else think about this? I plan on complaining to corporate to see what kind of response I get but don't expect much.

I disagree with Simplysmn and his statement above. Ram will not warrant the fuel system or engine failure if anything higher than B5 fuel is found in non-fleet use in the fuel tank.

I have found this out too at some stations and I try to a void them also. But the eco-terrorist is pushing the manufactures of fuel towards the use of higher grades of bio-diesel, such as B20.

SEMA has been trying to ward off this in both higher grades of Ethanol and Bio-fuel, but they need more members to show their support in this battle. I am a member of SEMA and support their fight in this endeavor.

Well let me reword this State of Ca I believe run's a b20 mix and I am best friends with 2 of the top Mech. He has showed me there truck's that run on what ever mix the state buy's and they have No more filtering then I do and they don't have any problem's So maybe I am thinking of B5 ? possibly but I remember him telling me it was b20

I go out of my way to find b99 or b100 biodiesel for my 97. It likes it just fine, and I've put on 20,000 miles on the stuff. Come winter will mix it half and half with diesel for trips up to the Sierras.

Of course I realize that my 97 is a 12valve and it will burn just about anything.

Yes Dodge/Ram will allow fleet users to run B20 in their trucks, individuals cannot. This is stated in your owner's manual. I also believe one of the techs on this web site has stated that Chrysler has a different ECM program for fleet users who run B20 fuel in their trucks (could be wrong about this).

I think the higher concentrations are becoming more common. I use Schaffer's products and was talking to my local rep this last week about a couple of oil samples (all good BTW) and he told me that in Oregon at least he is seeing up to 20% right now BECAUSE it is cheaper than dino, by law Oregon had to be 2% for awhile and he said that had gone to 5% now which I didn't know, BUT apparently the fuel companies can go higher than the required. Recently he said he pulled a sample right off the top of a tank truck and it had a lot of H2O, forgot the numbers but way too high from the top of the tank. Anyway, I started running the Schaffers diesel treat product year round about a year ago just to hopefully offset any bad effects of the apparently cummy fuel we are now getting here in Oregon.

I run refined used vegetable oil in my 08, up to 50% during summer, less now. The service manager at the local dealer says run whatever you're happy with as long as it doesn't plug up your filters and starve the fuel pump. BTW, he runs red #2 in his 08 all the time.

Good luck.

Your service manager must be a lot smarter than all the dozens (hundreds?) of engineers at Cummins who design, build, and warranty the engine.

I'd sure follow some dumbaxx service manager who formerly worked in a Hyundai store. He has a Ph. D. in engineering, I"m sure.

What's his name and address ill turn his A** in for running red dye. no problem at all :D

The last 3 Year MN has mandatory Bio-diesel 5% before that 3 Years 3%. I sell More CR Injection component's out-State. I agree My bank account has seen a healthy increase form Poor refined fuel and water/Material contamination. Any % above 5% would make me concerned. . Here's a picture Ball/Seat/AC (new) with a matter less then 10 hrs drive time. The center should be sooo smooth it would reflex light... People cannot comprehend the close tolerances of CR. . Rummor has it the poor fuel has cost CR owners in 100s of millions of dollars. When selling CR injection components You must document everything B/C owners just don't believe You... You have owners with 300k then you have owners with only 1k. The owner of this destroyed Injector was running Popular setup with the factory Canister.

The only way to guaranty NO contamination is (NON-certified Internal combustion filtration filters) installed separate form direct injection.

The service manager is quite smart and reasonable. However, the service advisor is as dumb as a box of rocks (I just smile and ignore him). Been running veggie oil in the HPCR for over 3 years now, with no ill effects. Its all about keeping water and crud out of your fuel. All of my fuel and diesel resides in the truck tank first then gets pumped through the 15 micron water block filter before it goes in the fuel tank. Then the stock filter takes over. No ill effects.....
