Like the title states... "I love my new Smarty Jr!" The only complaint I have is... . Why did I wait so long to buy one? Bob, was so easy to deal with. I bought in on Friday, got it Monday... . Installed it Monday... . Drove the snot out of it Monday! I can't tell you if there is an increase in my fuel economy yet (Can't keep my foot out of it. . HEE HEE Oo. ). I can tell you that level 3 is killer. I will report my fuel economy increase or decrease on the next tank ;).

Thanks Again Bob,

Karl

Bob I am in the market for a tuner and and guages. What can you tell me about the smarty and jr. Which do you rec and why. See truck specs below. I am going to slowly mod my truck. ie intercooler, turbo, beef up transmission, injectors, and more.

DAVE04, I can't stress enough what a "New", or modded transmission can do for you! The Smarty is the best mod I have done for the $$$, however, the transmission is the second best (Most important). However for the $$$ I spent on the trans, it wouldn't be considered the best bang for the buck. I plan on taking my truck to the track in the next few weeks to take a some passes. I am VERY curious where I'm at now. I ran againt my friends modded Ford last night, and I took him by about three truck lengths. He is running 13. 80's all day long at the track. I believe the Smarty and the trans are what helped me beat him.

Good Luck & Love The Smarty!

get the big Smarty... it'll grow with your truck

UUUUMMMM What do I need to do to my transmission. I have heard of people putting allisons in. Also what do I need to have gauges for ie EGT, transmission, boost. What else? Are the stock oil gauges sufficent? Pressure and temp?

stock oil pressure and water temp gauges are alright... the oil pressure isn't super accurate, but it will notify you if you have a big drop in pressure.

with the big Smarty, if you can get Bob to set you up with the 411 software, you can run it on level 1, 2, or 3 and essentially be running a Smarty Jr.

with those programs EGT's will be lower than factory, so you don't really "need" gauges. I prefer to have gauges so I know exactly what's going on, but for a mild combo like that, they aren't essential

if you've got a healthy 48RE transmission, a good converter and a valve body will go a long way. Might want to do a laminated flexplate while it's apart.

Or you could just bite the bullet and throw down the money up front for a "built" transmission. You can go a long way on a single disk converter, but you'll want a flexplate and a billet input shaft at minimum with your full build.

That's a loaded question, but I spent about 5k ish for a built trans with a billet input.

I spent $4,800 on my transmission (With billit input, output, Converter, VB... The works)..... and I love it. It was a large commitment to make, however, I love my truck and decided that it was cheaper than a "New" truck that WILL have issues / problems as well. I just turned 97,000 miles on my baby, and the truck looks like "New", so I plan to keep her on the road for at least another 100,000 + miles.
