I have a 2006 2500 4x4. I can turn the HVAC sytems on and you can hear the fan running. You can also hear the fan change speeds, but the air flow does not increase with fan speed. It does not matter what setting (floor, defrost, mix, etc) the the vents are on. There is almost no noticeable increase in air with the fan speed at high vs low. Truck has 66,000 miles. Any help is appreciated.

There is a good chance that the recirculation door has failed, fallen out of position, and is blocking the air intake for the fan. Take five minutes and remove the blower and you'll have the answer. You can simply remove the offending part and use the system without the recirc. function. www.heatertreaterweb3.com has the fix for this.

Thanks for the help, it was the recirculation door.

Does anyone know any tricks for getting the blower motor out to replace the door without removing the dash? I tried to use the link above for the website and it does not look like the web page is up.

Removing the dash is easy. If you have the Infinity stereo, there will be an amplifier in the way, at least there was on my '03. It really slowed the job down. Disregard HT's instructions for cutting the intake screen, the door will go right up from the bottom.

My 06' also had a bad recirc door. Had to snip the plastic grill up top to install the new door.

Not necessary but works better for some people. With the heater motor removed you can remove the old flapper and while doing so carefully note the orientation as you remove it. Just put the new one in retracing the orintation . Removing the grill not a big deal but the old door practically fell out once it hit a certain orientation. So I said, why cut the grill?

Now I am dreading the day when the other doors break. I will probably remove the whole box but then again maybe just cut the hole and butcher it.

My truck had a broken door when I bought it new. The problem was very new then and they didn't have an upgraded part (not that they helped) so Dodge replaced just that part of the system. So far I haven't had another breakage in all these years.

I had the same problem with my 03. The coil in the cab was iceing up. My mechanic changed the senser that plugs in to the coil. What happens when the senser goes bad the compresser keeps running and the coil freezes up and no air goes through. The complet dash has to come out to replace the $20 dollar part and $350 labor, works like new.
