low boost pressure

I seem to have low manifold pressure in my 1993 Dodge W350. At 1500 RPM, boost is less than 4-5#. At 2000 rpm, around 8psi. Under load, wot, the most I have gotten is 16 psi. Is this normal? What and where do I start checking?

Thanks, guys. I thought maybe my intercooler was leaking. Those things are $pendy. I will probably check it anyway, just to be sure. My 2009 Dodge 2500 has more like 35-45 psi when I get after it. I take it things are more updated for more output nowadays?

Yes. The power output on your '09 is much greater, and the engine displacement is larger as well.

A basic and crude rule of thumb, is 10 hp per psi boost. If you're making 16 psi max with the 1st gen, you may be around 160 hp to the wheels. Making 35 psi on your 4th gen, you're probably closer to 350 rwhp.
