Low cost turbo upgrade...

Is there any way to put a 2nd gen turbo on a 3rd gen truck ... I have a mill and a lathe . . maybe angle the turbo mounting surface to move it away from the block or what ever it hits... I just hate that 9cm housing... and $1200+ is just outta reach... . thanks... ...

Should be possible. I went the other way, with a HTT turbo. Had a 3rd gen turbo rebuilt and setup for my 2nd gen.
