I've had low fuel pressure ever since I installed my fuel pressure gauge (and who knows when it started). It varies from about 8 psi to 15 psi max.

I removed my prefilter "hoping" that it was dirty which could have been the root of my problem. It was virtually spotless. It was then that I noticed that my fuel heater assembly was loose. I haven't noticed any fuel leaking but could this looseness cause a low fuel pressure or perhaps some other problem such as allowing air into the fuel system? Does tightening the prefilter seal up the heater assembly also?

I have a new lift pump that I was going to put on but I'm wondering if I should reassemble things and see if there is any change in fuel pressure. Any thoughts?

Rad,

The heater unit needs to be tightened using either a 7mm or 8mm hex allen wrench in the center of the heater unit from the bottom, that is after you have removed the lower bowl. I can't recall offhand exactly which size it is, but if you so a search of my posts regarding changing the quad ring seal and prefilter, I posted the exact sizes for all the wrenches you need to remove and replace the upper and lower portions of the heater and prefilter.

If you place your finger against the bottom side of the heater, you will feel the hole dead center. Just slip the hex wrench in there and torque it down but sparingly.

Good luck,

Swampy
