anyone know why these rigs have such a low gvwr? i was tempted to trade-in my SRW mega-cab this weekend for a DRW Megacab but when I looked @ the gvwr on the DRW I was suprised to only see a 600lb difference. . So my SRW is 9900lbs and the DRW is 10500lbs. I would think aside from the additional support from the wheels, essentially both rigs would be able to carry the same amount of payload. Figure the extra wheels and spacers on the dually are probably more then 300lbs so maybe if you are lucky you can squeeze 300lbs additional payload with the DRW. Am I missing something or is this just rediculous? Does anyone know why the Mega Cabs have such low GVWR's versus the quad and single cabs?

I have been complaining about this on multiple threads since the MegaMonster first came out. I think DC really goofed or they have a real good explaination. #@$%! They both have 23k GCVW. I'll bet good money that if you load a good size 5er on to it you will go over the truck GVW.

That is exactly what I am concerned about. . I'm looking for a slide-in and almost everything I look @ will kick me way over weight with passengers, gear etc. . Not to mention tongue weight from boat in tow. Seems to be the concensus there are a lot of guys running over the gvwr. Guy's I have talked to have all said they feel the truck can easily handle up to 2000lbs over with bags and properly rated tires. There is no value for me to switch to a DRW mega from an additional payload capacity since the additional wheels for the duals suck up most of the additional 600lbs. The quad cab is out. Have to baby seats in the back still and been spoiled with my current SRW mega cab. Not going to ford or chevy.

The reason the GVWR is down is due to the short bed and more of the weight being forced to the rear if the bed load is evenly distributed. However the axle is the same, and all the weight of a 5er tounge is over the axle, so in the case of pulling, the GVWR is a good as a long bed in my book. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
