I have had my 98 3500 12valve 4x4 auto (55k) now for about 2 months. I feel as though I am now getting use to the truck. This truck has had a smoking issue since i got it. Please help me here!!! The previous owner who was the original told me he had the injectors changed (larger) and the cam in the fuel pump also changed. This truck smokes when I get on the throttle even slightly, and even smokes a little bit just while idling. I also feel as though the current performance is not what it should be. I realize it is a heavy piece of equipment but it seems short on power to me. Where should I begin addressing these issues, are they possibly related???

Thanks

Steve

I'm guessing that the torque plate is what was changed in the pump and who knows what injectors are in it. If you have the former owners name, call him and ask specifics and where they came from. You might be able to get details from the source if the owner can't remember or find a reciept.

Smoke at idle generally means the timing is off from where it should be to run best. Checking the timing would be a good start.
