I have a 00' 2500 6spd. stock except for gauges and superchips programmer. that seems low on power, blowing some black smoke with or without the superchips programming. 14 PSI is max boost with or without programming. Fuel pressure is 16. 5 idle, around 10 @WOT. . Is this a MAP sensor problem?

This is what I have tried so far:

-checked all of the turbo hoses and connections visually.

-adjusted the valves

-cleaned the IAT and MAP sensors

-checked for codes... none present

Thanks

I would make a close inspection on the lower drivers side intercooler hose to make sure the inner fender sheet metal hasn't rubbed a hole thru the hose.

Second guess would be a bad MAP.

Hope this helps, Chris

Lower power

Keep your old MAP if it is bad! and measure it if it is returned. If these things don't fix your problem please PM me for I can shed some light on possable problem.

you might check the wastegate to make sure it is not stuck open. check the bearings in the turbo, pressure check the innercooler. there are ways to check without pressure but are very dangerous(ether or propane) air pressure is best. THe black smoke tells me the computer is expecting boost but is not getting it. If you know someone who has a boost fooling device to bypass the map sensor it will help diagnose the problem. If the boost device creates lots more smoke the problem is an air leak or lack of charge air. If not you have a timing or injection problem

Update: haven't checked the APPS yet, but I got a DTC yesterday. It was P0336, which is crankshaft position sensor I believe. Could this cause my symptoms? Thanks for continuing help.
