I've got a buddy with a 95 2500 with the auto 47RH I think. There is a few things done to it # 6 fuel plate, fuel turned up, injectors (not very big), converter lock up swith, shift kit, performance converter. Here recently the truck seems to lose power after being ran for a long time. It just becomes a slug, you press down the pedal and it dosent have any balls. My buddy texted me on his way to WV. pullin his 30ft camper and all he could manage to do was go 65 mph and like I sad has no power. Is the transmission getting hot and doing something retarted because it dosent seem to be anything to do with the engine it seem like its something in the transmission. But I'm no transmission guy especially automatics. Fluid isnt burnt and the level is fine. Please help me :{ If u guys need more info please ask.

Thanks in advance Chase

could be slipping the transmission. if its stock and is getting run hard then once it gets a little to warm it might be letting go.

Tell him to watch the tach , if its the trans slipping , then the tach will go up , with no increase in speed of truck , If thats the case , stop by a trans shop & drop the pan , and adjust the bands .
Fuel pressure test , swap out fuel filter & clean prefilter .

I dont think the transmission is slipping. The time I was in it and it did it (this was at 5 in the morning so my memory may be a little fuzzy) the rpms didnt rise when the pedal was pressed, they stayed constant. I was woundering if it was loseing boost but I didnt have much time to check anything and it was dark and just glanced at the tubes and boots using my cell phone as a flash light. They looked to be fine but I'll check them again. Then the next day the truck quit doing it (this was a week ago) and then like I said last night it started doing it again when he was pullin the camper. The best way I can describe it is, ok, put yourself in a truck or car with a gas engine and a auto trany or a manual trans and your in 5th gear and your crusin 60 or 70 mph, its in overdrie and you press down the gas to pass someone and it hasnt shifted out of overdrive yet and your car or truck is a complete turd and feels like it has no power then it shifts down a gear and OMG it has power. Now this truck of my buddys has that feeling of a gas vehicle in overdrive with no power before it shifts.

Is there any excess smoke when this happens? Doesnt sound like a boost problem to me though...

Could be a bad lip seal thats leaking pressure away from the VB once it gets hot. Pump could lose pressure, then, no power to wheels. Does this only happen at speed, or while going slow also?

how many miles on the transmission? changed out the fuel overflow valve within 50k miles? Less than 5k on the fuel filter?

good luck

Another thing, if you don't hear the turbo spooling up when the go pedal is pushed down, it could be related to the air line between the manifold and the AFC. If the AFC doesn't see boost, it won't allow much fuel.

Generically, low power is low fuel. His problem sounds heat-related, since it only happens 'after a while'. Check the AFC-to-manifold air line for 'melting' - when my intake heater relay(s) failed the first time, the manifold end of this line was melted shut. Also check the various charge air fittings/hoses/clamps to be sure they are snug and solid. Also check to see if the sound and feel of the engine change between cold and hot; this might be a clue pointing to air in the fuel.
