Just had a #10 plate put in, mods are BHAF and straight pipe on a 97 2500 4x4. The plate was installed full forward, test drove it and got some new power but very little smoke, cranked the star wheel toward engine two revolutions and got more power and more smoke upon takeoff. However, the truck feels like it is bogged down until I hit overdrive, then it literally takes off and pulls like a mule. Any suggestions for adjustments??... ... .....

Did you add a governor spring kit with this #10 plate as well? If not then the injection pump is still defueling at around 2300 rpm. I am sure your overdrive rpms are low(1500-1900rpm) so that would be the reason for the hard pulling as the plate is fueling more at those revs than stock plate. Have you checked to make sure your governor lever is riding on the plate as well? A #10 plate is a very friendly plate for the lever but I have seen them out of adjustment when the plate is moved all the way forward.

I had the same problem, ended up being a plugged fuel filter. Check fuel pressure or replace the filter. As JGheen said if you don't have a 3KGSK, you need one.
