I was riding with a friend in his 03 6. 0 psd and it seemed spool up was slow but once it did it took off. I was wondering could it be Gears tires? or is there a big diff in power ratings for the newer trucks as aposed to older? I am looking to bomb (hopefully soon) but was wondering if something else I overlooked? seems my truck had a lot more power when I got it @101k and it has 130k now power service every 2 tanks. any help would be great.

psd all stock? big aftermarket turbo? lots of variables can cause this, down to an ECM issue. as far as bombs causing it, a big turbo will do this most obviously.

That's just the nature of the 6. 0. We've got two of them at work and they run just like you described; ya gotta rev them to get any power out of them. Actually feels like you're driving a gasser. Absolutely no comparison to the Cummins' bottom end torque.

You really can't compare the two engines. Yeah, they both burn diesel, but the Cummins is built for bottom end grunt and working hard and the 6. 0 is for people who want a diesel that feels like a gasser. Two totally different power curves by design.
