hi, my 2001 auto 5. 9 has a low rpm sputter or hesitation, this is right when i try to move, the engine will hesitate and fail to rev temporily, i have tried all obvious things like fuel filter etc. it goes away after around 1500 rpms and its worst when she`s cold ,any thoughts? thanks

I had the same problem with my 2001 with 5 speed. It got progressively worse and

soon was hard starting. Last week we replaced the vp-44 pump and the problem was

solved

Any codes being captured by the PCM/ECM? A bad or out of calibration APPS could cause this as well as a bad VP-44. Check to see if your system has any codes latched.

Thanks, if it is my vp44, how big of a job is it to put the p pump on it? i have several 5. 9 cummins industrial engines with the inline pumps on them, would the conversion be difficult? i guess the computer would be a problem huh?
