Scotty 2 question

Power Service Recall??

Low sulfur fuel or not?

OK, I know a little bit about the new low sulfer fuel and the questions regarding lower lubricity and so on. So, this sticker just showed up on the pump where I've been buying fuel for years. Is it just me, or is this warning confusing? At first I thought they had switched to low sulfer fuel. But, then why would it be prohibited in the 2007+ vehicles? The people behind the counter didn't have a clue what the new sticker is supposed to mean.

So, when is the new fuel supposed to be showing up at our pumps?

I saw the same thing.

I read it as this is LSD and NOT ULSD and some of the 2007 diesel vehicles are suppose to use ULSD and if you have a 2007 that requires ULSD this LSD should NOT go into your vehicle.

I read in another thread that with the ULSD there is a lubricity standard (finally). Not that I would trust it, but supposedly there is a lubricity standard in the ULSD.

OK, someone just corrected me that we have had "low sulfer diesel" for a while now and that the upcoming fuel will be "ultra low sulfer diesel". The warning sticker now makes sense. It certainly can be confusing though for those of us that don't know ALL of the details related.

Thanks for setting me straight SBledsoe.

The EPA rules state that as of June 1 all diesel pumps must have a Sticker either S500 was is what we have been running for years now and the New S15 sticker that signifys that fuel is ok to use in new 2007+ vehicles. California will not have stickers as the only fuel sold there will be S15.

I'm already haulin the ultra low sulpher diesel to our stations. The stickers will remain until the station tanks have been purged of the LSD 500ppm. It will take a few loads to be pumped out of the stations before the fuel will meet the 15ppm specs. I'm pretty sure that samples will be taken before stickers are removed & be safe to use in the 07 rigs.

From what I understand the state of Minnesota requires 2% biodiesel in all diesel fuel sold in Minnesota and I have heard that biodiesel has great lubricity properties so I think we will be ok up here I still from time to time add power service diesel kleen.
