Folks,
After 3 years of towing his 37 foot, 16,000 pound fifth wheel with a 1986 454 Chevy, my buddy at work just bought a new '06 4 wheel drive, 48RE, 3500 dually - Dodge of course. He bought it in 4x4 because we go into the desert sometimes and hew didn't want the hastle of getting stuck in the soft dirt. THe problem is that he needs the truck to be as much as 7 inches lower than stock to match up with the trailer well. He is not doing any off-roading to speak of (just dirt camp site stuff) so ground clearance is not an issue.
The question is: Does anyone know of a product which will allow him to get this type of drop in the rear, and will lower the front enough to match without doing something stupid and without destroying the load carrying ability of the truck, which, even lowered, must be able to carry a significant pin weight?
Maybe a lowering kit (I am almost embarrased to be asking about such a thing) in combination with a wheel/tire change?
