"Diesel Secret Energy" inquiry

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW

YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from

one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take

time to read this please.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! It's worth your consideration.

Most of us already paying $4. 00 a gallon:--) and by next

summer it's probably going to go up!! Want fuel prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy fuel. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. But, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can possibly work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking fuel priced at about $2. 00

is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3. 99 for diesel in

my town. (southern florida)#@$%!:-{}:{

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned

us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1. 50 - $2. 00,

we need to take action to teach them that BUYERS control the

marketplace. . not sellers. With the price of fuel going up more each day, we the consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of fuel come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their fuel!

Since we all rely on our trucks, we can't just stop buying fuel. But we could possibly have an impact on fuel prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY

fuel from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any fuel, they will be inclined to reduce

their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will

have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I sent this to 30 people already and if each of them send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten

more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the

sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers .

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!:--) Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all! How long would all that take? If each of us sends this message out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL until they lower their prices to the $2. 00 range an keep them down. This could really work.

I predict that this campaign will be very successful. That is, successful at filling up lots of peoples email inbox with more spam, and that's all it will do. Let's assume that the scheme was working an Exxon Mobile dropped their price of fuel $0. 30 gallon below everyone else (which they cannot do because of the high price of crude). How many dedicated participants of this scheme would continue to pay for the higher priced fuel from the non-Exxon Mobile companies? I didn't think so. Schemes like this are the lazy man's way out of a problem. Expect everyone else to do something to solve the problem so that "I" can continue to live my lifestyle with no sacrifice. The best defence against high fuel prices is high fuel prices, and let the laws of supply and demand work it out. Many of the members here are on the right track,... sell the truck and buy an economy car if that's all that's needed, combine trips, slow down, camp closer to home, car pool, use the wife's car instead of the truck. and so forth. Those ideas will work because they ACTUALLY reduce fuel consumption, which lowers demand, which lowers prices. A more effective scheme would be to make sure that you ALWAYS buy your fuel from the cheapest station you can find. Doing so demonstrates that price IS important.

In any case, I will continue to do my part by not buying from Exxon Mobile. I have not bought their fuel for as long as I can remember, and it hasn't helped yet.

Let me state for the record that I am not a supporter of big oil, high fuel prices, a tree hugger (although I do believe in protecting the environment), etc. I am a realist and have made a few laps over my years.

Let the flames begin.

It woun't work. Exxon mobil will just sell off thier fuel to the other stations that will now have a shortage becaue of thier now heavy demand and we will still be screwed. But for the record I don't buy from them anyway.

what a retarded idea!!! Not buying from one company would only hurt the small business people selling that brand of fuels. The large oil companies would just sell their crude and refined products to other refiners and oil companies.

It';s not uncommon for several brands of products to haul out of the same terminal. This won't work duh.

Now if we can force those idiots in washington to allow development of our own crude reserves and allow exploration on government controlled areas the US could produce enough crude to increase WORLD SUPPLY. That will bring down prices. It might also help if somehow we could get speculators from running up prices on the markets.

Those are the only ways we are going to see any changes.

We should let congress, those tree hugging greenies and global warming NUTS hold the rest of us hostage!!! #@$%!

What would developing more oil reserves do since we don't have enough refining capacity to handle the current supplys we already have. How will that bring prices down? There are no shortages crude oil. Do you have to start your post Insulting someone trying to help?

I agree!!!!!

It won't work because if even 20% of the people normally buying from Exxon & Mobil suddenly switch to "other" brands it'll just drive the prices up higher at their pumps. Then as soon as that happens people will go back to Exxon & Mobil, and their prices will quickly rebound to where they started (or worse go higher).

If it was a highly coordinated, orchestrated effort, there's a chance it might work, but more likely it would backfire & make prices higher, and there's no way you're going to get masses of people working in unison on something like this.

I'm not totally convinced the idea will work, but I'm willing to try it out. I have not bought from Exxon, Mobile in a long long time anyway. I still believe the best way to beat this economic situation is to drive our trucks less and use them only when we need them. Take shorter vacations. We were planning on making another trip to Alaska this summer, however it's not going to be this year. Other thing to do are to pretend that there is an egg between your right foot and the accelerator. When you see the light change ahead of you, take your foot off the fuel pedal and coast into the intersection, don't ever drive over the speed limit and when hauling a 5er or other trailer, don't push it over 65 mph. Keep tires properly inflated.

If we just use common sense and not panic by selling off our Dodge/Cummins, the situation will work itself out. Also, don't look for our fearless leaders in Washington to fix the problem because they don't appear to be interest, nor do I believe they could anyway.

Remember, This too will pass.

This is not new. I think the last time I saw this it was Chevron and gas was going over the terrible $2 level. How well did it work?

I pretty much agree with Klenger and Grizzly.

I've been buying my diesel from the high volume lower price stations for 16+ years.

Morgan Stanley is predicting $200 for a barrel of oil in the future. As the $ falls oil, gold and the likes will go up. The best way to cut demand is to get the Chines and Indians back into rickshaws and bicycles. :-laf

Quoting from the end of the link Ryan provided:

The only practical way of reducing gasoline prices is through the straightforward means of buying less gasoline, not through a simple and painless scheme of just shifting where [added by poster "or when"] we buy it. The inconvenience of driving less is a hardship too many people apparently aren't willing to endure, however.

It's not only the price of crude oil going up, It is the value of the dollar going down. That's part of the rise in price. It is going to get worse, the feds. are talking about lowing the interest rate again, that will drive prices even higher. The dollar goes down and the price of gold goes up. Same thing with fuel.

No matter how you slice it, it all comes back to supply and demand. There is one, and only one way to get fuel prices to drop: More fuel on the market. Period. And the only way to get more fuel on the market is to increase supplies of oil and build more refineries. Period. If the supply of diesel fuel increased ten-fold tomorrow we would see a significant drop in the price by summer. Supply and demand. Bio-diesel is a nice way to use waste oil and supplement the fuel supply to a minor degree, but it has to be both manufactured and refined. Oil is already there, and just needs to be refined.

and what about the dollar, it is in the s@@#er, the new says we have plenty of supply, if so where is the down turn in price? it hasn't... but because the green back is alittle more than toilet paper right now and we import most of our oil, we cannt buy anything for pennies anymore. .

till the dollar comes back up and economy gets better for REAL AND NOT BY USING A CREDIT CARD, we are in the ****ter... have a wonderful day... . :D:D:D
