Does anybody know where I can get a 2 micron fuel filter that fits the stock filter canister? I have found stand alone Racor filters that filter to 2 mircons, but nothing for the stock replacement.

Thanks, Jim

Seems I've read that for the physical size of the stock filter, the current 10 micron is about as low as we can go and still get reliable fuel flow, with decent overhead for normal contamination - for lower filtration rates, you might hafta go to a physically larger filter?

Stanadyne FM100 filter heads and corresponding filters will flow 90 GPH in 2 Micron, 10 and 30. They have filter lengths from 3. 5" to 8" I think. I've had the 5 and 6" filters for some time. The size basically dictates the amount of contaminant it will hold before a change is required. At least this is what Stanadyne Corp told me as I too questioned the 2 Micron flow rate.

They assured me their filters were not the bottle neck but rather it was the port sizes of the filter heads that determined the max flow.

They also have FM1000 filters that are much larger and can flow up towards 180 GPH.

The Fleetguard filters in stock canisters are good for 10 micron filtering. They also stop 5 micron particles but at a reduced rate... something like 80% if I remember from their spec sheets. There was a change in filter numbers for 98-99 filters. The current filter number will hold a greater amount of contaminant. I think it went from 11 gram to 19 gram to match the 2000 and up filters.
