I was looking to level out the truck and found Belltech lowering shackles for the 2500. Installed today and got about 3 inches of drop. Had to enlarge the top bolt holes a bit but other than that install was easy. Truck looks much better without the nose down attitude. Just have to see about how it affects towing (30 ft. Jayco TT).

Ohh, tell me more. Is there anyway to get my truck a 2/3 or 3/4 inch drop and still keep the full GVWR of my truck?

What is the approximate price of such a kit.

Ok, Another question. Anyway to lower just the back end of my truck to get a level apperance?

I have been pondering these questions. Any answers will be appreciated.

ANOTHER question just came to mind... . How about rising the front end of my 2wd an inch or so to get it level and have ground clearance? I don't want to sacrifice the ride quality.

I will be putting dual 5" chrome stacks on the outside of the pickup bed. I guess lifting the front -end would be better than a drop ?

Whatdyall think 'bout it ?

TIA

I'm a little curious as to a 3" drop with just shackles. In order to do this, the shackle would have to be around 10" ctr-ctr.

If I were looking to lower the back end of a Dodge, I'd remove the lift blocks or replace them with shorter ones. An added benefit would be reduced axle wrap and better handling.

No blocks on a 2WD. The new shackle is considerably longer than stock. Clears the bottom of the bed by about 1/2".

265's

I've seen a few 2wd (2500) with 265s in place of the stock 245's. It adds a bit to the height. The owners that have done it said it really helps the ride.

If I lowered the butt, I would add a set of air bags. Any lowering cannot load handle squat (literally and figuratively).

I bought my 97 used with the flair and running board combos. The flairs helped take away the oversized wheel well appearance. I eyeball things and would not lower the rear on my RAM. It sits relatively level as is. I am more interested in more ground clearance due to the winter snows so the 265's is my thoughts. I just hope they clear the front flairs.

re: 265's

I have 265's. The front looks just right with the larger tires but the back had almost 8" between the top of the tire and the fender opening. The back tires looked ridiculously small but now look more in proportion since the drop. No really heavy loads as this is just my daily driver.

I use a load equalizing hitch with the trailer so hopefully squat won't be a problem. Tonque weight is less than 1k pounds.

Lowered

I went with the 2"-4" Bell tech kit. I sent the front coils back, after a few days they dropped another 1/2" and seemed to just be too weak. I cut 1 1/4" off the stock front coils and that was just right, I dropped the front exactly 2". Don't waste your money on new front coils if all you want is an inch or two drop in the front.
