I need to lower my truck for 5th wheel hookup and towing. I was told I can remove the 3" spacers under the rear springs, but will it affect the drive train in a negative way?

I will hook it up tomorrow when the 5th wheel hitch is installed in my truck, but when I back up to the 5th wheel, the truck seems pretty high in comparison to my 2001 3500 ram dually. I could just be panicking for nothing.

once you have decided if a mod is necessary, look up "reverse level". if your truck has the 3 small spacers under the rear leaf pack, you can move the spacers to the top of the leaf pack. That way the same hardware works fine, and you have the spacers handy if you need to adjust or go back to stock.

I really would be suprised if it is an issue... Unless this is a much older 5er maybe? Is this a SRW or DRW truck?

I have no problems what so ever with my 2014 3500 4x4 DRW and 2016 Coachmen Chaparral 360IBL... Trailer sits maybe an inch higher in the front than the back.. over 40' that isn't even noticeable.

One thought here... I used to pull one of the spacers out of my older trucks.... 04, 04.5, 05 etc... when you pulled the spacer out... you lost the ability to pull the bolts that hold the caliper to the backing plate and remove the caliper without jacking the body up when the axle is on a jack stand.... or lifting on the body and letting the axle hang.... I've got to look at my new to me 2013 this week...

It's a SRW, and the 5th wheel is a 2007 Aldo. I did crawl under the 5th wheel, and noticed that the previous owner had flipped the axle, so it might be fine. Thanks for responding.

I have a 2014 2500 and a 2014 Rockwood 5th wheel. I had to raise the 5er 3" so it would ride level when loaded. Loaded weight of the 5er is 9500# with 1750 on the pin. The hitch in the bed is about 200#, I also carry a generator at about 100# in the bed. With the lift the truck and trailer are level.

Thanks for all your support, and ideas. Flipping the axles on the 5er was the perfect solution, so everything is level.
