I'm looking into lowering the rear of my 2016 3500 4x5 srw to help it match up to my 5th wheel a bit better. What's involved in removing the spacers at the bottom of the spring pack and putting them on top? Are there alignment holes/pins to hold them in place?

It looks like an easy job, but then again, I don't know if there is anything holding the spacers and springs together (other than the u-bolts). Wish I had a FSM for this truck!

I would especially like to hear from anyone that has done this on a 4th gen with leaf springs

Although I haven't done it myself, I'm pretty sure that its a similar to lowering a 3rd gen. Jackknife is correct about the driveline angles, but I doubt it will change it enough to cause problems; just know that it will have some effect on the system.

There is a pretty good write-up and discussion on this on the cumminsforum. I don't know how to post a link but if you search for "reverse level" It is at the top of the list.

I've always found it to be more advantageous to raise the trailer. My last 3 fifth wheels were all raised 3 to 4 inches and it didn't really cost that much.

A good custom trailer maker can do it easily. All positive results too, more clearance over the truck bed, less tendency to drag in steep drives and your truck stays stock..

Unless your trailer is already raised, it's well worth investigating.

^^This is what we did....a spring over conversion. If we buy another trailer, I will have a sub frame built, and then have welded to the OE frame so that I can keep the springs under the axle for better control.

My trailer already has OEM springs over axle.
Also the trailer is 12' 9" high, so I really don't want to go taller.

Depending on your current high point, raising a few inches to level it may not increase the overall height that much. Our new Bighorn 3575el is listed as 13'3" . I believe 13'6" is the limit is most states. Chris
