Off Roading 7.5" Rims on 3500? Possible with Spacers?

Competition air-water intercooler, worth it?

196/572 at Scheid's a few weeks back. Funny how those two figures can be so far apart. They told me this was at rated rpm of 2500. Peaks were 204/606, I have turned up the rpm to ~2650.

Car and Driver or Road and Track (back when I was into that stuff) did a "road test" on a D9 Dozier.

If I recall correctly it had something like 180hp/2000fp. How's that for outta kilter?

Can anyone share some insight as to why there can be such differences? I know that turning up the RPM's will result in more horsepower, while torque remains the same. But what about the other way around, high torque and low horsepower? I dynoed a while back and turned 203/421. JFitzgerald ran 196/572. How can the numbers be so different for two rigs that are quite similar? My numbers are before intake, exhaust, RPM, timing, and injector modifications. I am hoping that my other mods have really improved torque. I will dyno again at BD this fall or spring. I am too cheap to pay for a dyno run. Any ideas would be appreciated.

HP= Torque X RPM divided by 5252.

Torque = H. P X 5252 Divided by RPM

Since torque and hp is a mathimatical formula, more torque really means more hp at lower rpms. Think of the power curves and several different ones. Like a narrow powerband with a steep curve, would seem to me to have low torque reading where a wide fat powerband would have more torque for the same hp reading.

-or-

400hp@2600 and 1000 ftlb@1800 = 342. 7 hp @ 1800 rpms

400hp@2600 and 800 ftlb@1800 = 274. 2 hp @ 1800 rpms

Of course this is just an example.

245hp / 849ftlbs of torque

That was on the great dyno they had a Muncie this year. ;)

Those #'s are higher now.

Come to think about it the HP # went up a week later on a different dyno. :confused: Those things are an accurate messure of how much power you have too. :rolleyes: If someone knows what they're doing they can make a dyno say about anything they want.

More fuel early means more torque? Well I'm sure I've got plenty of it now. When I dynoed the first time, smoke was very minimal. Now I can really make the smoke roll (I can also drive it so it won't hardly smoke at all). Hopefully max torque will be at a much lower RPM. I dynoed on a Mustang the first time, and will again the second time. So, the numbers should be comparable. Thanks guys.
