Is it difficult to install a lift pump? The location looks like a bear. When warranty runs out I would like to change it myself. I am sure there are some folks who have accomplished this? I have received a lot of education about my truck on this site, much appreciated. Thanks

1998. 5 2500, auto, 354s, black with lots of chrome, stock and will stay that way. I love this truck.

Piece of cake...

Took me less than an hour. You just have to get real intimate with your cummins. I removed the fuel filter to make it a little easier to get to.

Buy the pump from Cummins not the dealer. It'll be about 1/3 the price. The new one comes with a little wire harness.

its super easy, i think i removed my fuel filter, removed the bolts on the fuel pump and i pulled the bracket off as well. The best thing to do, just do like i said, then get some pipe cutters and cut the fuel line next to the tank, splice in a new Summit, or Mallory fuel pump (like 100-150 gal hr), and runs the two wires from the existing fuel pump over to the new one. Then put together the lines that were pulled off the first pump, takes little over an hour and replaces a big peace of mind that u are going to be providing enough fuel to the vp44. Also, these pumps are meant to push not pull, makes life a lot easy on the pump next to the tank, good luck, ... reb:)
