For those of you who use the amsoil 2000series75-90 in your LSD are you getting
by with out the friction modifier?,also what
is the capacity for Dana-80

capacity is 5 quarts. Just changed mine with Mobil 1 and took 4 1/2 quarts plus I put in 4 oz of friction modifier, probably could have got by with 2 oz, but what the heck.

I'm now using the 2000 series 75W-90 and did not need to add friction modifier. You will need modifier if you use the standard Amsoil 75W-90. My LSD seems to work properly when the truck is empty, but one wheel will spin easily on a soft surface with the 3000 lb camper loaded.

I wondered if I got screwed by DC when I drove it the first 5k miles. I could hardly get both wheels to spin in wet grass. It's gotten a little better, but still doesn't grab the other wheel like it's supposed to.

Does DC put too much additive in our trucks to make our LS weaker?

It's time to change the 5-speed,transfer case and the differentials lube. How much additive should I use in the rear if I want the LS to bite better?

As far as the factory fluid... if you didn't put it in,you don't know if it's the right ratio or not. When I got my '00,it did not have enough so I took it to the dealer and they put way too much.

I am using the series 2000 75w90 and didn't need any friction modifier at all.

I solved my problem! I have a locker ordered for my truck. No more getting stuck on wet grass with a load as to the point you have to get pushed out with a tractor.
