Sandia Showdown - Oct 11

Clash race on 25th?

Well Folks, it's that time of year. Time to start planning for the 4th annual Texas Rally.

We've got the barn at Buckhorn Lake RV Resort reserved the weekend of October 11-12th. This is where we had the Rally in 2001. Rally sites are $20 per night. This campsite has telephone, cable TV, and even high speed internet connections at each site.

For those that don't have campers, below is a list of hotels in the area.

We are still in the initial planning stages so any suggestions are welcome.

We'll have the pre-registrations ready in the next few weeks. It will be very important to get pre-registered so we can make sure we have enough food cooked. Buckhorn Lake has a fully staffed kitchen that wil be preparing the food for us and I want to make sure we get a good headcount.

As always, we want to have a good vendor turnout so if you know of anyone that would be interested in setting up a booth, just have them e-mail me at -- email address removed -- for the information.

So mark your calendars and polish up the rigs cause it's gonna be a great time!!Oo. Oo.

Thats the last weekend of our vacation. Maybe I can talk my bride into spending it the right way. We will already have the TT in tow so maybe for us.

Good heads up Curtis, although I really liked the place last year this one sounds more user friendly. One question are there places to stay on the grounds like the cabin's in the last place or do you have to use hotels? 12-13th are right at the end of my transfer leave period so that should workout just fine, now I have to work on Piers when I'm up there in September and see if I can get him to come down.

Jim

No Jim, this place doesn't have the cabins, but it isn't far from the campsite we were at last year so you could stay at Guadalupe River RV resort cabins.

Work Piers over REAL good. :D :D It would be good to see him down here again.

I think I found that the Best Western has the best deal on rooms.

Someone get Peter to come down again also, had to much fun with him at the bar there. :D

Hey Curtis

Count us in, the timing works well for us. I would have been very disappointed to have to miss this event, ya,all do a great job.

I am in!!

Hey Curtis!!! Good to see this post again!!! I am in ... ... and glad we are having this at the Buckhorn park again. I know most the Dallas TDR chapter will be going this year and I will make sure to get a firm count at our next meeting. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help. Thanks again for setting this up.

:D: :D: Curtis, I was at Buckhorn this past weekend. I made my reservations while I was there. A word to the wise:-make your reservations early-this park will fill quickly!!Thanks for all you do.

Ya'll, Jim is right.

Fall is a very busy time for those campgrounds in the Hill Country. You'll want to get your reservations ASAP to make sure you have a spot. We've got a group of site blocked off, but we want to make sure everyone can stay together. That way I don't have to run all the way back to my camper to get beer. ;) j/k.

If you guys have any suggestions as to what you would like to see at this years rally, by all means, let me know. I can tell you any type of sled pulling is out of the equations due to the lack of facilities. There is a drag strip abou an hour and a half away that hos a Friday night Test and Tune if a group of us would like to go out and run the 1/4 mile.

As always, we wil have some type of Q&A/Tech seminar that everyone likes. Lots of information to be learned at those things.

If ya'll are interested in having a potluck dinner gathering Saturday night that can certainly be arranged.

I'm open to just about anything as long as it legal and within the campsite rules. :-laf

Suggestions for fun:

creeper races

hillbilly go-cart races (toilet bolted to creeper, you propell it with one plunger in each hand) :D

I received my reservation confirmation today. I'm looking forward to the rally. See all of you there!

BTW, I e-mailed Joe Donnelly and asked him to try to attend if possible.
