You are likely to hear a number of different suggestions on this topic, all of them viable IMO.

I've used the Redline MTL for over 15k miles w/o any noticeable negative differences - I get a 'crunch' on a quick shift into 4th when cold which has been that way since new. Not a problem when warmed up, it can be shifted as fast as I can manage w/o any problems.

I have tried the dealer's fluid (expensive), pennzoil synchromesh, & Royal Purple. I have moved on to Amsoil's Synchromesh 5W-30.

My synchros are going bye-bye & so far I like the Amsoil. (2,600 miles)

With the Royal Purple I did the last 3 changes @ 5,000 mile a piece, because the trans would get hard to shift.

You can use any of the above or even banana peels I suppose but the correct fluid that meets Chrysler specs can be purchased at Auto Zone in a yellow plastic quart bottle labeled Pennzoil Synchromesh Transmission Lubricant.

Has anyone tried running the synthetic oils that are used in the 18 wheeler's? I work for Cenex trucking and was thinking of running their 50w synthetic oil for the NV5600 in my truck. Just wondering.

Thanks

Randy
