Anyone installed Oil Mate?

I did the siphon gun exchange of my PS fluid with Valvoline SynPower last spring. Much improvement over the 100k juice.

However, when sub zero temps arrived this fall, the dreaded howl returned.

I had great results from Lubegard trany additives so decided to try the PS additive.

I siphoned the reservoir dry, added the Lubegard, and topped off with Valvoline in warmer temps (around 32°F). I noticed a slight whine in the pump disappeared.

This morning it was -10°F and the pump didn't howl on start-up. I tugged on the steering wheel and no howl. I stepped on the brakes and no howl. I stepped on the brakes and tugged the wheel and no howl.

This afternoon, the temps were around +5°F. Again no howl with the same test.

I am really impressed with this product.

I have been using lube guard for years. I have a 1992 CTD with the 518A auto with over 160,000 miles and at ever transfluid change 1 pint of lube guard. No leaks after 12 years thats good stuff.

There is the problem, you NEED to live in a warmer climate. At those temps I'd howl too ;)

Sheeeeeesh, I thought 30*F was bad :-laf

A crisp -26°F this morning. PS pump did a slight one or two second groan and stopped. Nothing like the previous winters where it would howl for a good 30 seconds or more. The tranmsission made more noise when I moved the selector from park to reverse to neutral for the morning idle.

Wife laughed at me yesterday. I finally dug out my winter coat. I've been wearing my leather jacket and it doesn't have much lining. All what you get acustomed to for temps.

I've been in DFW metroplex for snow & ice storms. That damp cold really is raw.

Send me a PM with your pricing on Royal Purple PS juice. I cannot locate any in my necks of the woods. Maybe Texas products won't work in the cold~~~~

Tim

I'm not aware of any special requirements for first gen PS units. The Valvoline is great stuff in most applications, but then so is most flush & fills on closed systems.
