:) A friend and I have been discussing oil/brands/frequency of change. I am an old die hard about useing good quality oil and change it at recommended intervals. He is going to use Amsoil and only change the filter every few thousand miles. I believe I read an artical that Cummins does not recommend synthetic oil in diesel engines as it does not contain proper additives.

There is probably many different ideas on this subject but I would probably be inclined to listen to the engine manufacture. Any input I can get would be appreciated, thanks.

This is probably overkill but I use Premium Blue oil and a Fleetguard filter and change it every 3k.

sorry for the colors, just thought I'd try somthing different. :p

What kind of article did you read that Cummins does not recommend synthetic oil in engines because it does not contain proper additives? I've never read anything like that. It's your choice use what you want to cause your paying for it.

I know Cummins recommends a minimum of 10,000-15,000 miles on dino oil before switching to a synthetic but I have not heard them say no to the switch after the break in period.
