I always seem to learn something from an oil war thread. For instance, I didn't know what troll meant as it pertains to thread posters. I did not think Barbieri's post was that inflammatory, relative to others I've read, that is.

Barbieri makes a single post and the zealots jumped all over it like flies on a fresh dung pile.



Barbieri;

Threads discussing synthetic lubricants, especially Amsoil, produces very strong emotions and posts. Some members have been suspended and even booted.



I don't know the intention of the original post, but I saw inconsistencies and tried to question and correct them, but my directness was a bit cynical.

• Yup, lots of people use Amsoil in their engines with great success.
  
• Yup, lots of people use other synthetic oils in their engines with great success. Personally I use Mobil Delvac 1
  
• Yup, lots of people use conventional oil in their engines with great success.
  
• The major problems tend to be from no oil at all.

Perhaps it was stupid statement to make.
