Lucas Injector Part No.?

OK, I checked with my local Delphi dealer and he looked at me as if I was from another planet (maybe I am! #ad
)
Would you fellas with your Lucas Injectors have a part number available for the high performance injectors you put in? If so, would you be sooo kind as to post it?
Also can you tell me if it was just a nozzle replacement or the entire injector?

The # on my Injectors from Don are as follows. JC5760524 Name DELPHI there is another # 9329 Also there are three letters AHM These injectors have 7MM tips. Hope this helps. I have not installed my injectors as of yet, but am anxiously awaiting the results of others who have installed these injectors. John

I purchased my Lucas injectors from Piers at BD. After I installed them I had a whole new truck. It just came alive. My boost went from 12 to 22 that quick. My egt's are 600 at 65-70 and 850 WOT, flat ground, unloaded. It's a blast to drive now. Thanks alot Piers. Scott

have you thought about buying them from the people that went to all the time and trouble to research them? I don't understand why you wouldn't at least give them a shot at it anyway. Ask your local dealer are these injectors ready to go out the box or do they need to be modified. Support the people that support TDR. Not trying to pick on you just wondering thats all.

We all look for the best deal/product we can, I'm no different. I had a personal chat with a recognized name on this site and I got this, from that chat...
. . It would be nice if, after all the free questions and answers and the time it takes to offer that help and advice, to atleast have the chance to 'bid' on selling the product we developed,if we can't come close (keep in mind there would be some kind of warranty and service included) then ok, go for it on your own. Perhaps you want to do it all yourself, thats fine too, but give us a shot at making a living. Then we don't regret telling our secrets publicly, and for free... .

That made ME think a bit to say the least.
Anyway, I just liked seeing that jimd recognized that too.
Not trying to step on anyone's toes, honest!

I was not trying to do anyone out of some business, but rather trying to give someone the info. necessary to make an informed decision, as I have witnessed people purchasing the wrong items thinking that they were getting a bargain. I personally purchased mine from a reputable source. I won't dare give the data on this board, however if you write I would be more than happy to give name and phone. He was friendly and gave excellent delivery and a fair price. I believe the seller is entitled to a reasonable profit. Sorry if I offended anyone. John Krmpotic

Forgot to thank Jim Curry and everyone else who have spent time on the phone and the TDR with us talking about First Gen mods. A great group of people to be associated with. I posted to soon about Don Potvin's truck, please read the 300hp injector post, he tell sit all in there. He had the same reaction as I did when I first installed a set of these injectors. They are awesome.

I can get injectors at cost from a buddy at a diesel fueling shop... but I should pay more to someone who probably isn't hurting as badly for cash as I am just because he's associated with TDR?

Just my opinion,but, Piers Harry found these Lucas injectors BD PN 1040171 to be very good for us to use in the first gen. trucks. I love mine and would highly recommend doing business with Piers in his new business adventure. Not to p#ss anyone off, but just my way off thinking. Support those who support us!!! As for cost, you only buy them once. Tim

OH, honkindiesel. you replace the whole injector with the . 093 thick copper ring(biggest one). It takes a 24mm box and deep socket to do the job,Lucas had a bigger top,so socket is critical. On #6 mine was rusted good, lots of penetrating oil and a cut off 24mm box wrench and hold the flats with a cresent wrench. Go easy, it will go. You need a very simple injector puller you can make with some bolts and nuts. If you need specifics,email me. Removing a couple valve covers really helps. Tim

Forrest, I think there is a context issue here. Sure, everyone who is a member supports the TDR. Buying something from another member would be showing individual support for that member who may well have earned that support by investing countless hours, blood ,sweat, tears, and dollars. Then sharing the experiences and saving one or more of us the same grief. It's a personal issue that should be weighed on an individual case basis. If a given member has something for sale and offers otherwise unobtainable free and accurate advice it would seem to me more than worth it and proper to pony up an extra buck or two. If they even are asking more. Many times the guys who are most generous with their time i. e. free advice on the phone (Piers, Bill K. , Stab, Nowell/Blair, and others) have the best prices.

Certainly no one would begrudge you getting a deal from a friend.

If a friend can get you something at cost I don't know if it's fair to compare that to someone who is in business. Lucky for you to have that friend!

I like you and probably most 1st gen guys are on tighter budgets than our late model brothers and fully understand having to pinch pennies.

So no judgement here, just offering food for thought and trying to spare you from thinking anyone here is out to soak you.

I agree, and I am prone to spend more with those who help me out... I've got a buddy who runs a parts distributor in Florida... his prices are a little higher than some places, but I buy as much as I can from him... I try to do the same with other stuff besides car stuff... I eat at local restaurants and frequent privately owned businesses any time I can as opposed to big corporate chains...



I guess I just didn't like the implications being tossed around when someone was simply asking for a part number... this site is for sharing information... I am a member of a number of unmoderated lists and am a moderator on another forum... I get the willies from heavily moderated forums/lists that won't tolerate any talk that goes against an advertiser or something like that...



I know this is a different issue, but implications of censorship get my goat... I paid my $35 to get as much information as possible about these trucks/engines... on other free sites, I just leave when I notice an underlying "party line", but I PAID for this one dangit!



anyhow, I agree with taking care of those who take care of you!

You may be able to save a few bucks by shopping around, and finding out who has the lowest price, however, what kind of customer support, and other usefull information will you get after the sale? I will be the first to admit that I don't like having to pay more than the lowest possible price for anything, but sometimes you can't put a price on customer service. I have purchased my injectors and intercooler through Big Don, I feel his prices are fair, and his customer service among the best. He was there for me after the sale when I had lower than expected boost and acceleration. He helped me solve my problem, and was more interested in helping me out, than making a quick buck. The next time I need anything for my truck (if I can wait a few days for shipping), I know who I will call first. Just my two cents worth.

I must warn anyone who has a limited slip rear differential, and Lucas injectors, ease on the power on those sharp turns, or your rear may be saying "hello" to you front end rather quickly.
