Additives ?

On this I can only share what I have been told by drivers on the road. The oil additive most I have talked with do not and will not use it, convinced it does not help. Myself I noticed that it thickens the oil somewhat like STP and the engine runs a little quieter I think. I have stopped using it for the reason first mentioned. The guys on the semi's all seem to like it though.

The fuel additive is another matter. I have spoken with many commercial drivers that never fail to use their fuel additive. The reason is always the same, they feel that the pump lasts longer with the additive in! We are talking here about 1st gen trucks and the VE pump which uses the fuel for lubrication. I spoke with one driver who has over a million miles on his engine and has never had to work on his VE pump, and gives the credit to Lucas.

I would run it if I had a newer truck since I also want to control abrasion in the injectors which have nothing to lubricate them but the fuel. Therefor I run it all the time in my fuel even though it is a pain to put in, since I often fuel 3 times a day (small tank) and have to measure it out . I now have about 260,000 on the original injectors. Good luck... . R C
