I thought I had read something about adding Lucas oil to your ATF for better performance from the transmission. Does anybody know about this?

Thanks,

Ben

I tried some in the Ford once. Couldn't see/feel any difference. Wouldn't spend the money on it. If your transmission was at the point of needing something like that, it's probably due for a rebuild.

I do run Lucas engine oil in the transfere case about 10 oz then fill it up with ATF,it makes it shift in and out of 4X4 really sweet... . and ATf doesn't have much lube factor to it. . and it mixes really well... one truck i have ran it for 80,000 miles it does help... for the transmission i would be afraid to try it... i would think you would get the clutches to slipping... ...

I commented in a recent thread that I read a while back that adding a quart of SYNTHETIC 5W-30 motor oil to the ATF when using DexronIII instead of ATF+4 helps the trans. In that thread, one menber who was using Dexron added the Lucas additive and said it seemed to help. I have over 120k on my truck with no problems with the trans.

I have run 5W-30 synthetic motor oil in the transfer case since the first change instead of the ATF+4 the owners manuel recommends. No problems. It is a much better lubricant and friction modifiers are a non-issue in the transfer case.
