Anyone use Lucas Oil Trans Fix additive? If so does it work or is it a 10dollar bottle of snake oil?

Also do u add the whole 24oz bottle and do u have to remove any trans fluid prior to adding the additive? ANyhting else u can think would be great.

Thanks

I know Lucas has an additive that pretty much is for worn seals. It works. I had a 604 that had 2nd and reverse. PUt the stuff in it drove up and down the road for about 15 minutes, parked the car overnight, and the next day had all 4 gears. That was about 4,000 miles ago. transmission still has a axle snappin 1-2 shift once in awhile, but overall it did the trick, for that. I think they have an additive for slipping trans, but not for sure.

I'm looking for a two fold effect Snoking. Trans is starting to get long in the tooth so to speak. No major problems at this time. Fluid changes every 30-40k, depending how on top of things I am. Looking for the following.

1) Smooth out the shifts and TC lock up, both have gotten noticably harsher over the past 1 -1. 5 years.

2) Prolong having to rebuild/replace trans and/or seals and help bands from slipping (not sure if they actually are).

Thanks

I don't think much can be done if the bands are shot, but the lucas will help on the seals. For that matter just running a thicker oil would help.

For me I figured it was $10 if I get a year out of it it was a good investment. I am hoping to get two years out of it. If it starts slamming agian, I am going to drop the pan and add about 5 quarts of the thickest stuff I can find. :-laf

I had a friend who used lucas on a bad transmission and when he pulled it out a year later it was still shifting.

Cool thanks zstroken thats kinda of what I'm looking for. I dont think the bands are totally shot, but think that the trans may slip abit but I am only basing this on how the trans feels over the past several years.

When u dumped it in, did u remove any trans fluid first to accomidate the volume of the Lucas additive or did u just dump it in?
