Got my Lucerix mirrors installed. Now I have to be careful cause I'm spending too much time looking behind me #ad
.

Installation took about an hour and I'll provide the following observations for those of you who are waiting on the mirrors.

1. My truck required a 2 inch bolt for the drivers side top mount. A 1 3/4 is supplied but only 2 threads showed through the door so I purchased 2 inch. They are metric fine threads so don't try to substitute.

2. When you pull the door molding back, before you get out the wrenches (10 mm socket) fold a paper shop towel so that it's about 2 inches wide. Make it fit into the lower U of the space in the door where the mirror is bolted now. Make sure to completely cover the two square cutouts. Then take the nuts off. The paper towel gives you something for the nuts to drop into besides the door. You DON'T want them to drop inside the door.

2. They didn't leave a slot for the wiring harness to come through. I used a spacer shim, slid it under the lower edge and once I snugged the mirror down. I know it sounds cheesy but you can't see it, and it doesn't rattle and it makes for a good standoff to keep from squeezing the harness).

3. The drivers side harness doesn't have a lot of slack. If I remember, I came between the two lower studs (straight down) and it was perfect. If you go over the top of those studs I don't thing it will reach.

4. The top stud and the forward stud on the passenger side will have to be trimmed off about a quarter of an inch for the inside molding to fit against the door properly. I did one with a Dremel tool and the other with a short hacksaw. It needs to be done after installation or you may have a problem starting the nuts. No big deal. Aggrevation more than anything.

5. When you tighten them up, take your time. Keep snugging them one at a time in a circular pattern. It took about five cycles to get them tight because the mirror seats slowly and just a little at a time.

I called Lucerix and told them about all of this and they were grateful. Still working out some of the finer points.

The mirrors are about twice as large as OEM. Flat on both sides. No wind noise from them. As a matter of fact there seems to be less noise. No vibration at road speed and fully extended they give a wide view behind you. I can see my rear wheels turning..... from the side #ad
. Also fully extended there was no vibration and no hint of folding back at 80 mph.

I like them. Now I've got to change my signature.

Alan,
Thanks for the info. I've noticed that they have charged my credit card, so I hope to get them soon. Can't wait.

I had mentioned in an earlier post that the drivers side mirror, top bolt hole had a problem from the factory. Took me three hours to figure it out, if you include my trip to the parts store, etc. Finally I got it in the sun and saw the threads were screwed up (ha, ha) in a bad kinda way. Mark at Lucerix shipped a replacement right out along with a return shipping slip for the bad one. Good customer service. The reason I'm telling you all this is check it before you start disassembling the old setup. I had my old ones off and had to reinstall (hence my tip about the nut falling in the door). Just make sure the threads look good and that the bolt will screw all the way in. Finally, check your bolt length through the door before you set the mirror up there to mount and make sure you have at least 1/4 inch through the door.

I am looking for the address or phone number or e mail address of Lucerix X mount mirrors. If anyone has this info I would appreciate it if you would share it with me. e mail address sharongaryd@aol.com

You probably can get by with the included bolt. As you said, as you tighten the mirrors, they "seat slowly", the reinforcing brackets distort slightly and the seating and slight distortion allow for enough thread.

Pull the mirrors out manually. Easy.

Phone number is 1-800-295-3703.

Problem with my top bolt is that there were only 2 threads showing no matter what I did. With the foam gasket, I couldn't compress enough to make it start. The 2 inch was perfect on my door. BTW, check your mirror adjuster, mine was so loose it was about to fall off.
