Started slipping my clutch this morning and just was wondering about the LUK pro gold for a ETH, what will they hold and any thoughts about the clutch? Going to about 400hp eventually and want to upgrade accordingly. Already know about the Southbend probubly a OFE but saw a LUK for less than $595, and was wondering about it. could probubly have it installed for what a Southbend costs. Any suggestions? And will the OFE hold more than 400hp and the torque of a H. O. if I get a little over the 400hp mark? Fixing to have a baby and it might be tight for a few months, so If I can save some bucks thats more Diapers. :)

Thanks Jared

When I was shopping for a clutch about six weeks ago I was told that the LuK Gold was not available for a six speed equipped truck, only for the five speed. I bought an OEM replacement LuK and had it installed in my HO/6 speed.

Jared,

I installed a LUK pro gold clutch last year and it done better than

the stock one. But since then I have installed a larger turbo and

370's injectors and the clutch can not handle the pressure any more. Will be calling Pete at South Bend clutch as soon as I get my tax return for a upgrade to a Duel Disk Clutch.

Dallas... :) :)

When I was under 400hp by a bit I tried a LUK Pro gold and it didnt work well for me as it slipped and the SB Con O worked great till well after 400hp. I have a friend with a 24 valve that is making a bunch over 400hp maybe 450+ and the Luk is working fine for him, in fact thats what inspired me to try the LUK.

Good Luck with your choice.

LUK is supposed to be releasing a new clutch that can hold more then the Pro Gold can. I believe it should be out soon. I talked to them a couple of months ago.

Last summer when I was down at Enterprise Engine Performance they told me that they had installed 12 prototype clutches for Luk and the people running them were happy. When I was there a few months ago I noticed they had a stack of about 20 luk clutches in their parts area. Call and talk to Doug at EEP and I'm sure he can tell you what to expect with this new clutch. Matt

Guess no one has this clutch the LUK add says it's good for up to 450hp maybe it is a new clutch. It is a organic and feramic(sp. ) clutch so maybe made to compete with the Con OFE. Any thoughts?

I saw them for that price also and was wondering about them. If they will hold the HP they say and last it would be a good deal. I won't be needing a new clutch till next fall anyhow. You can let us know by then.

The forst clutch I put in my 97 was a Luk Pro Gold. I slipped it with 340 HP. The South Bend Con O held better than 450 HP and was the smoothest clutch I ever had. I suggest you do it right the first time and Call Peter at South Bend!!

The sothbend Con O is supposed to be a 375hp clutch isn't it what will it hold? Plans are to get to about 400- 420 hp max does anyone think it will hold those numbers efficently? It is a H. O. so tq. numbers will be a little higher than a S. O. Do I need a OFE?

Jared

My Con O held till about 420hp and then slipped a tiny bit. The OFE works great and if you are going for 420hp I recommend you go with the OFE and only do it once.
