First let me say I do not want to start a ******* match. I want to get right clutch for my truck and my needs.

First my truck is in my sig, I plan on adding a aftermarket single turbo as well as big injectors within a year and I will probally be done with it after that. So targeted hp is 450+ range or so. The most I will tow is 4000 pounds or so and that will only be a couple time a month. I do race people however and that is where I am torn. Carolina clutch said the cerametallic doesn't like to slip. Right now I rev it to 1800-2000 and slip the clutch when racing.

I am leaning the towards the Luk right now for several reasons. It is rated for more power hp and torque, haven't heard of any complaints, NEW flywheel, and lower price.

The Luk is a little less proven it seems as it is a newer clutch. He has the cerametallic as the half and half organic type I think. Whcih he sells to guys that back up heavy loads and need to slip the clutch. He hasn't heard how either really do slipping the clutch in a racing situation. What have you experienced with yours?

SB is proven and the customer service is great I hear, but you don't get a new flywheel and it is over $200 more. How do these clutches do when racing?

Is that all I need to upgrade? Input shafts and the rest will be ok with the hp I am shooting for? Both re 13", the South Bend I was rocommened to it the 024 I think.

Help I need to get one soon as I want more power. Need to slide that plate!!

Cann't speak for the Luk, but my Con-O was a major improvement over the stock Luk. I pull some heavy loads and do the odd bit of racing. It will take a well built clutch to live with "slippage". That is hard on any clutch. Someone on this site will have the experience you seek.

At some point, before you make your decision, and you've read all the responses you'll get from you request, call and talk to Peter at SBC. Tell him what you said here. Do the same for Luk, if you can. Factor their responses into your decision.

FWIW, I've been a member of the TDR for 4 years. SBC is the hands-down favorite between these 2. I have no regrets on my choice of clutch. Well, maybe I shoulda sprung for the OFE ;)

Call the guys that make the 2 clutches you're thinking about (as well as any others). I'm pretty sure Peter at SBC will shoot you straight answers. I've never worked with him directly, but his reputation here is tops. Don't be afraid to go to the source.

I'd hope the Luk folks would be the same. Call and talk to them.

Then read what you find doing searches here until you can't see straight.

Then go lay your money down.

Hey, it's just a clutch. If it doesn't work out, learn from it and change it!

As the Great Wizard said, "Now GO!" ;)

I have called both. I did not talk to Peter at SB, I talked to some other guy... don't remember his name.

Any new Luk clutch owners??

LUC Ceremetalic

I have one of the new Luc clutches and it seems just fine. I did however take it to the track and it did slip on its own with the switches flipped on. Dont know what its deal is. It would slip and I would back off and it would grab and then hold for the rest of the run. We will have to see what it does when I get my twins installed and tuned in. Before this I had a Luc pro gold and it did fine untill I put the water meth on and then it started to slip. I had it in for about 3-4 years. The reason I got the new Luc was when I took it in they had one at the shop. I thought I would give it a try. I have only had it in for 2 1/2 monthes so maybe it is still trying to seat. I dont know if this really helped you I was just giving my 2 cents.

Thanks everybody!!!

I tried to call Haisley but the mailbox is full and no one anwsered. Ilike the sounds of Street twin and the Street drag. Would these last to slipping to launch hard?

Anybody else have experence with these clutches?

Any other brands to choose from?

get an unbiased oppinion from rubberneck, he will tell ya how it is, be patient patty is busy send her an email, danelle would not steer you wrong... ... ... ... hehe

I like the south bend. I have a 48' car hauler. When I need to back up slow, I use 4 low. I had a Luk pro gold before the SBC. I decided to go SBC when we started adding a little power to the truck. The SBC is comparable in feel to the Luk, except it holds a heck of a lot better. The clutch now has over 25kmi and it is still like the first day it was installed. :D
