In the last week the price of diesel in the San Francisco bay area has gone up 36 cents a gallon for diesel. It is now 1. 99. 9 per gal. When I asked the service station owner what was going on he said they told him that there is a shortage of diesel. If that isn't a bunch of crap.

Its a shortage of #2 fuel oil. They are starting to put away their "winter reserves" for when everyone turns on the heaters.

So its not a BS answer. Its not gonna get any better anytime soon. I would expect 1. 75 to 2. 00 for diesel until next Spring.

I paid 1. 52 last week and today it was 1. 68! I think the govenrment is trying to control pollution by forcing us to drive less due to overpricing our fuel. Between fuel and insurance rates here in Nevada, it's hard to justify busting ass all week at work to give it away to all these crooks in the world!

Went down to $1. 43 for a few days then back up to $1. 47.
Saw the fuel tax rate in issue 29 surprised that FL was lower than a lot of states.

Diesel is $1. 49. 9 in Anchorage and Soldotna, $1. 68 in Homer. We have lots of oil here.

And it ain't gonna get any better. You think the price spikes last winter were bad(and they were if you drive for a living), I think we ain't seen nothing yet! Anybody notice the new stories this week warning of high prices and low supplies of home heating oil this winter? They say that the refineries haven't made much progress increasing stocks for the winter 'cause they've been busy still making gasoline. Well, as you all know, home heating oil and diesel are virtually the same. Oh boy, oh boy, I can't wait. Buying 30 gals for the Ram at 1. 50-2. 00 will be aggravating, but buying 250 gals for the big truck twice a week at those prices will be seriously painful.

This is when an auxiliary fuel tank is a nice thing to have. If you find a good price, or drive through a state that has cheaper fuel, you can save a little money. And/or you can skip a state with high prices. I know, you might not save much, and it would take a lot of fuel to cover the cost of the tank, but it's the principle, I feel. I never fuel up in Oregon, because I don't have to! #ad
