Where to buy?

which TIG welder?

I have wanted a MIG welder for along time. After ALOT of studying, price shopping and looking for a PERFECT used Miller welder, I went and bought a NEW Millermatic 211 Autoset. Got the welder, high-end cart, an instant dark turning helmet and argon/Co2 mix cylinder for $1450. 00 out the door. Next is to take a class and just play with it on some scrap steel. I have done alot OXY/Aceteyline.
The FUN begins!!!

If you can find someone to just get you started then go and find some scrap pieces you will be well on your way. Classes are great as well but you can have fun right away. enjoy never have had a new welder but have all I need. I got a fellow at church started and he went off and built his horse corals and got a lot of practice. ED

I have had a MM210 dual feed setup for the last 8 years to allow easy work on Aluminum and Steel. It has done everything I asked and more. Awesome machine! Only problem I had is the trigger in the spoolgun would work loose until I figured out that the wires were a tad short. Fixed that and no hitches since.

I have a Miller 250, works great you can't go wrong with a Miller. I prefer 035 wire and a co2/argon mix. Have Fun.

tell me as I'm not familiar with this auto set . do you mean it sets the amps, gas flow , wire feed or what ?

You can either do manual wire feed speed, amps or you put it on the Autoset mode for the wire size you are using and then the voltage/amp knob you set at the metal thickness you are welding. The knobs are also infinate adjustment to fine tune your settings.

I ordered a 212 autoset on the 31st, yet to be delivered. Can't wait to give it a try. Sure bet it will beat the old Forney buzz box I've been using.

The 212 is a nice unit. It jumps you up to the next catagory of welders. I think it can stitch weld. You must weld more than just hobby. I ran some beads tonight on some scrap 3/16ths... ... I am a REAL ROOKIE! I am used to OXY/Acetelyne. The mig bead seems to stand up alot more than Oxy/Acet.
I tried the autoset on the 3/16ths and then tried the manual select. I played around with the manual settings and reduced the wire speed a bit.
A friend of mine works in the oil fields and is going to bring me a bunch of scrap to practice on. Good luck with yours. Miller deffinately makes a fine machine.

Go Big Blue!

I'm a Big Red fan myself but the 211's are nice machines.

You can stitch with a 211 quite easily, you just have to do it manually.

I use my MIG for stitching body panels..... an auto stitch would be nice, but my machine is paid for. :)

I just got a 90 amp Mig welder for Christmas... . Haven't had a chance to use it yet but how good of a weld can this do?. I plan on modifying my Wind Deflector for my 5th wheel. I know the Usage (10%). . is not long, has to cool a few minutes. . No gas on this, just a . 030 wire feed.
