Well its almost been a full year and over 37k on the girl and I've managed to not modify her much at all but have stayed on top of everything, so before i start down the slippery slop we all know I want to get a few things out of the way. My first step is a transmission flush and new filter and pan, The main queston I have is weather or not to the double deep pan, its not much more and it holds quite a bit more, is there any problems I might have with it? Also is the 250 bucks worth it for a diff cover, I know that there are cheaper ones but I like the dipstick feature, and not having to pull the cover to change fluids is kinda nice.

I had the standard depth Mag-Hytec pan on my '99 and it was handy when it came to fluid changes. Regardless of stock or Mag,you're going to need to change the filter, necessitating removal of the pan. A good compromise might be to install a drain plug on your stock pan saving a bundle.

The question about, is it worth it, is personal. And for many the answer was yes based on there continued growth. I like the MagHytec rear end cover, it looks nice and is functional. I especially like the O-ring seal, it doesn't leak. I would go with a double deep transmission pan if you are going to spend the money and buy one. Why not get all and fluid in there you can? If you would be interested in a B&D Performance transmission pan I have a brand new one I bought, and never used it's still in the box.

As far as the transmission pan - having the extra fluid capacity is a positive, if the price of the double deep pan is within reason as compared to one with a little more capacity over stock, then I would spring for the double deep. I always bought extra capacity pans for my automatics when I had automatics, I would easily have chosen the double deep if they had been available.

I have the MagHytec rear diff cover, it looks great and has function as y-knot said ^^^. Our covers do not have the o-ring seal we have a gasket, they don't leak when installed and torqued properly. The dipstick is also a nice feature. You can access the fluid and get a sample for testing, nice advantage also. I also have their front cover, no interference, looks good too.

I opted for the standard depth Mag Hytech because if I ever get into some gnarly off roading I don't want my trans pan to hit anything.

I have a rear cover I put on my '92 when I had to go thru the rear end COMPLETELY. I love the extra fluid, drain plug, magnetic dipstick, easy to check fluid, very well worth the money!!! :)

When I did my tranmission I was going to keep the stock pan but ended up replacing it with a Mag-Hytec. Not only does it add fluid but it also adds a lot of rigidity to the transmission case which is really the reason I decided to go with it. The stock pan is a flimsy sheet metal thing, the Mag is really a nice product, heavy and machined. Just having the drain plug is reason enough now that I have drained the trans, so much easier. I did buy the rear diff cover at May madness but only because I like the way they look and they had a show special. I don't really need any of the real features it allows.

I guess in the long run its realy worth it, I plan on having this truck along time and expect to see well over 500k before i consider getting another one.

The double-deep is a really nice piece of hardware... you won't regret getting it. I was amazed at how thick and heavy it is - quality throughout. And it clears the transfer case skid plate - see my pics...
