On the double deep pan, is the gasket intended to be reused? I believe it is a special gasket is that right?

Thanks

* 727 TorqueFliet models use Mag-Hytec hard paper gasket or it can be purchased at Transtar Ind. Inc.

I have ordered a cork gasket from NAPA. DC only carries the rubber/plastic one. A machanic at DC told me that one will not seal. He used a cork one to fix his leakage. If I remember my DD came with a cork gasket. New filter and fuid going in soon. Getting the truck ready for work. Going to pull the 5er south.

transmission pan gasket

 I put a MagHytec pan on and used the rubber/plastic gasket and it has worked perfect, not a drop. I have heard others having problems with cork. I also put star lock washers on the bolts to keep them from backing out which I have read has happen to folks on here. Geno's sells the rubber/plastic gasket if your interested. Do a search on here and see which gaskets people have had the most problem with.

Do yourself a favor and take the drain plug out, coat the threads with anti sieze and the oring with oil then put it back in the pan BEFORE you install the pan.

Mine is stuck to the point where I will have to blow it out of there with some C5 #@$%!

I'd encourage the use of an RTV type product over any gasket. Better sealing, easier installation. Try the "right stuff" gasket maker-- it's great.

I am a big fan of RTV,but RTV isnt necessary,in this case,it too will weld pretty good, when properly applied. You end up literally beating it off with a sledge,a block of wood and a prybar. (Dont ask me how i know) with that pan just about any gasket will work the surfaces are so flat, and true. Ive been using and reusing the same gasket for 3 yrs now about 8 times, and it still doesnt leak, and no retorqing is needed since its already taken a set. Whichever gasket you use ,remember to go over all the allens 3x at 12-16 ft lbs,I go 15,then I recheck them after the trans has got hot once,or the next day after its heat cycled once. they usually loosen up quite a bit. That is why i reuse the gasket, you dont need to go over it again.
