I have the mag-hytec pan and am going to do a fluid change this weekend, my question is I know they don't use a gasket just an O-ring around the pan. Do you have to change the O-ring or do you just drop the pan and clean it up and put it back on.

I've had 3 mag-hytec pans and all of them have used regular gaskets, none have had the Orings that their differential covers do.

I use the plastic reusable gasket from Mopar which has dual Orings and seats around each bolt hole. Works great.

When you go to a mopar dealer do you just ask for a stock gasket, or do you ask for that gasket. I was thinking of my diff. cover that didn't have a gasket, yeah I read that you shouldn't use a cork gasket with that pan, isn't that what a factory gasket is.

I cant even remember what the factory gasket is.

Just ask for the most expensive one, its around $14, and you'll know it when you see it.

If you have the deep mag pan you can just drain the trans oil from the drain plug for up to 3 fluid changes then drop the pan and change the filter, that's why I just installed my deep pan for the convienance of a drain plug. I also reused my stock gasket I beleave it's one of the best part's dodge has for sale ( on their truck ).
