I'm putting a Mag Hytec DD trans pan on this weekend. Is there any "tricks" that I should know or is it pretty straight forward?

Does the block that extends the filter down into the pan bolt up in an "obvious" spot? The instructions doesnt say anything about it. Any torque rating for the filter bolts/screws?

Also with the gasket, will I need RTV too or just the gasket? And when torquing the bolts in the "criss/cross" pattern is that back and forth across the pan or bolts that are diagonal from each other?

Thanks in advance

When I got mine it came with the gasket and new filter. The filter is easy just afew small screews, I think they are 20 or 25 torex. The gasket goes on dry, and the screews which shouled be allen screews, I think 5/16 get tightened just to snug, then in a chris-cross pattern tighten to 13 ft-lb. Fill Transmission and start and re-check.

When I installed mine I was told by a good source not to run the gasket between the extension block and the valve body as they had seen problem with this gasket. I have been running that way for 10K miles with no problems.

The rest of the install is straight foreward, just try not to dump the pan full of transmission fluid on your head when removing it as that fluid is hard to get out of your hair. :D

cool thanks guys. My extension block did not come with a gasket so they must have deleted it due to the problems.

Thanks
