The install instructions on the Mag-Hytec website say "Dana 60 up to 98"... is there a front diff cover for anything later than 98? Or are they all the same axle? Thanks in advance!

Tony

Is that when they went to a front cover breather line? You'll need a breather in there somewhere, or you're liable to blow your seals out.

Don't know about the 02's but my 01 didn't have a breather tube in the cover. It has one but not in the cover.

Where would it possibly be located at? I changed out the fluid when I first got it to Royal Purple and don't remember seeing anything?! :confused: Hmmm... guess I'll have to break out the service manual and check before ordering... Thanks for bringing that to my attention!

Don't fret. If you didn't see the vent on there when you changed your fluid, just check again real quick before ordering. I thought I'd noticed it on mine, but it's a 2002.

Bryan

You should call Piers tomorrow and check before ordering a front cover for the '02. I thought I heard there are some other differences, and Mag-Hytec is building a new cover for it. Its not out yet. Of course hearing this from me should be considered just a rumor. I am not an expert in these matters.

Ahhhhhhh well this sux! :{ I wanna front cover NOW! Wouldn't it be easiest to just call Mag-Hytec? I'll try that... thanks!

Here's a pic of my front cover:

The cover itself 'appears' to be the same, so you may just have to drill & tap for a breather, but Mag-Hytec would be the best place to start. I'd like to see what you hear back.

WOW... almost looks like you could eat off the bottom of that bad boy... anyhow... is that tube going up and towards the back the breather line? because I don't have one of those on my truck... maybe 'cause it was built in '01? :confused:

My wife makes fun of me because one of the first things I did was get under there and take random pics. :D

I assume it is the vent, I'll chase it down tomorrow. Check your housing along the tube or in the top of the chunk and see where yours would be.

haha... I wouldn't take any pictures of my "rust farm. " I need to get in there and clean it up and cover up some of that stuff. I must have chose rust for an accessory because it seems like everything underneath has it! :D Ohh yeah, I don't have anything that even resembles that tube on my front cover!? :confused: :confused: I didn't remember seeing anything like that when I swapped out the fluid a few months back, so I double checked again... I don't see anything... ?? Hmmmmm... . :confused: I'm all confused on what to do now?!:confused: :{

Oxjocky, did you paint the whole underside of your truck? I don't think the paint made it to Mexico in time for any to be put on my '02. So far, I've painted the rear drive shaft because it was an eyesore, but I've got a long ways to go.
