I decided to not use the B&M drain and to get the Mag-Hytec pan I wanted in the first place. It arrived today and included are two donut magnets. There are no instructions as to their placement. Are these fastened somewhere in the pan and if so how, or placed, unattached in the pan?

Good Move. My B&M drain plug was garbage. It always leaked from the drain o-ring. When my CAD failed in some muck, the truck sank down to the drain plug. Water entered the pan and ruined my transmission.

As far as the donut magnets go, they go in the inside of the transmission pan. On steel pans, they just stick themselves. On aluminum pans, the magnet has to be epoxied down. I don't know why Mag-Hytec didn't attach them. Maybe someone with a Mag-Hytec can chime in. I would definately use them though. They do more for filtering metal shavings than the filter does. Good luck

If you want to use those magnets, epoxy them to the bottom of the pan. mag Hytec does not supply extra magnets; you have a set of stock magnets that come with the OEM steel pan. The Mag Hytec magnet integral with their drain plug is generally adequate, and allows you to clean the magnet when you change fluid, because you drain the Mag Hytec pan by removing that plug.
